Molly Cook, LCSW-S, LCDC, RYT EMDR-Certified Therapist
Hi! I’m glad you’re here. I’m Molly, and I’m founder & therapist at Onward Therapy & Wellness. I established Onward in order to provide restorative, ethical, and sustainable wellness services that tend to the whole person (mind, body + spirit).
My Approach as an EMDR-certified therapist
As an EMDR-Certified trauma therapist, I take an integrative, neuroscience-informed approach in my work. I love using a variety of methods to empower my clients wherever they may be in their wellness process.
I value Transparency in healthcare
One thing you can count on when working with me is that I will be transparent. When I don’t understand something or if I have concerns about our process together, I will bring that into the open in a sensitive and constructive way. I have found that being open and honest as a therapist helps build trust with clients, just like being open and honest in any relationship would help build trust. It is also important to me to empower each person’s personal agency. Oftentimes clients I work with have been disconnected from their own intuition and trust in themselves. My hope is help you remember that you know yourself better than anyone and that you are already whole even as you heal and grow.
I work from a relational-cultural perspective, which means I leverage my own humanity to better understand and collaborate with you toward your goals. In addition, I take an attachment-focused approach to therapy. Attachment-focused therapists model healthy relationships and help provide a space for real life experience of appropriate, supportive boundaries as well as emotional validation and connection.
Specialty Areas
Common issues I enjoy tackling with clients include: trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, addiction or problematic substance use, anxiety, chronic pain, and trouble in relationships. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings addressing psychiatric and substance use disorders. Working with clients who are self-driven in their healing process is one of my favorite things.
EMDR-Certified Therapist
I am EMDR-Certified and I love using this treatment method to help people get unstuck. I’m also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and incorporate this into therapy for many clients. I have specific training as a TeleMental Health Provider and am comfortable using telehealth to meet clients where they are and make therapy more accessible. I’d love to be a resource for you!

Why is an EMDR-Certified Therapist important?
Depending on what issues you are wanting to address, it may be important to have an EMDR-certified therapist. Trauma and other complex mental health concerns are best addressed by a therapist who has an in-depth understanding of neurobiology and the adaptive information processing model. An EMDR-certified therapist has undergone additional supervised practice using EMDR with at least 50 clients.
