Yoga is much more than a physical practice
There are a number of common misconceptions about what yoga is. We hope to share a more full understanding of the holistic nature of yoga. Our approach empowers clients to develop a practice of their own. When a full and robust practice is established, yoga is a comprehensive self-care strategy.
In the hustle and bustle of daily life, finding moments of peace and tranquility is essential. Yoga, with its roots deeply embedded in ancient practices, has proven to be a profound tool for enhancing mental health. Here are some compelling benefits:
Stress Reduction
Yoga encourages relaxation through deep breathing and mindfulness, effectively reducing stress levels. Our expert instructors guide you in techniques that promote a sense of calm, fostering emotional resilience.
Emotional Balance
By combining physical postures with breathwork, yoga helps balance neurotransmitters, promoting emotional well-being. Cultivate emotional intelligence and a greater understanding of your mental landscape.
Anxiety Relief
Specific yoga poses and meditation techniques have been shown to alleviate symptoms of anxiety disorders. Learn tools to manage anxious thoughts and cultivate a sense of inner peace.
Improved Sleep Quality
Sleep is crucial for mental health, and yoga promotes relaxation that contributes to better sleep patterns. Discover practices that enhance your sleep quality and overall vitality.
Yogic philosophy is a way of life, not just a workout or a way to de-stress. Though it can be those things, that is an incredibly reductionist view of the whole of yoga. It minimizes the entirety of what yoga really is. In sanskrit, it means “to yoke” or “to unite” and involves practices that aim to integrate mind, body, & spirit for whole health.
We often remind clients that it is a myth that you have to be “super bendy” or flexible at all to be able to practice yoga. Asana practice is only a portion of the practice. We include pranayama (breath work), svadyaya (self-reflection & self-study), and more. We offer modifications and adjustments to allow each person to edit and shape their own practice to get what they need.
For some, healing trauma with movement is more effective than traditional talk therapies. This understanding informs the way we approach work with clients. This is part of our neuroscience-informed foundation that underpins our services.
Many of us end up carrying old “stuff” around with us that no longer serves us, or actively impairs our quality of life. Trauma can manifest as holding patterns in our muscles and fascia, which can cause chronic pain, joint issues, illness, and a host of other issues. By sensitively and intentionally releasing these holding patterns, we can restore the body to a place of balance.
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.
