The Chakra System & Healing Blocked Chakras
Have you ever wanted to know about the chakra system or what it means if you have a blocked chakra?
Overview of the Chakra System
The chakra system has its roots in ancient Indian spiritual philosophy, developed over 4,000 years ago, and has since been adopted by many spiritual traditions around the world, and links to western sciences like Somatic Psychology. At a basic level, the word “chakra” comes from Sanskrit and means “wheel” or “disc.” The chakras are psychospiritual energy centers in the body where energy moves through us. Each is associated with a different aspect of our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Chakras are said to have a location even though they do not exist in a physical sense. Like feelings or thoughts, they have a strong impact on our physical experience.
There are seven main chakras, which are aligned and correspond to plexuses in the body along the spine from the base to the crown of the head. Each chakra is associated with a particular color, element, and sound frequency, and is said to govern different aspects of our being. Each of the chakras represent a major area of human psychological health & reflects a basic human right:
Root Chakra
(Muladhara) – located at the base of the spine, associated with the color red and the element of earth. This chakra is associated with our sense of safety and security, as well as our connection to the physical world. the right to have.
Sacral Chakra
(Svadhisthana) – located in the lower abdomen, associated with the color orange and the element of water. This chakra is associated with our sexuality, creativity, and emotional expression. the right to feel – the right to want
Solar Plexus Chakra
(Manipura) – located in the upper abdomen, associated with the color yellow and the element of fire. This chakra is associated with our sense of personal power and self-esteem. the right to act – the right to be free
Heart Chakra
(Anahata) – located in the center of the chest, associated with the color green and the element of air. This chakra is associated with our ability to love and connect with others, as well as our sense of compassion and empathy. the right to love and be loved
Throat Chakra
(Vishuddha) – located in the throat, associated with the color blue and the element of sound. This chakra is associated with our ability to communicate and express ourselves authentically. the right to speak and hear truth
Third Eye Chakra
(Ajna) – located in the center of the forehead, associated with the color indigo and the element of light. This chakra is associated with our intuition and inner wisdom. the right to see or perceive
Crown Chakra
(Sahasrara) – located at the top of the head, associated with the color violet or white and the element of thought. This chakra is associated with our connection to the divine and our spiritual awakening. the right to know.
Each of the seven chakras also has come to represent a major area of human psychological health which can be briefly summarized as follows: survival, sexuality, power, love, communication, intuition and Consciousness itself.
Balancing and aligning the chakras is important for overall health and well-being, as well as for spiritual growth and enlightenment. There are many different practices that can be used to work with the chakras, including yogic practices, meditation, sound healing, and bodywork.
What does it mean if a chakra is blocked?
Identify and Heal a Blocked Chakra
A chakra blockage develops from equal and opposing forces meeting on a particular plane; we cannot merely eliminate one or the other force; they must be integrated.
Traumas, cultural conditioning, limiting belief systems, restrictive or exhausting habits, physical and emotional injuries or even just lack of attention can all contribute to chakra blockage.
Difficulties are part of life and for each one we develop a coping strategy. When difficulties persist, these coping strategies become chronic patterns anchored in the body and psyche as defense structures. Eventually these defenses create holding patterns in our musculature that restrict the free flow of energy even when real threats cease to exist. Unblocking a chakra requires addressing the problem on multiple levels which is where yogic interventions, massage therapy, psychotherapy, and other practices like sound healing comes into play.
